はじめに

vCenter Server ( Windows ベースまたは vCenter Server アプライアンス)、 VMware vSphere 用の Virtual Storage Console ( VSC )、および NetApp VASA Provider ( VP )を実行する仮想マシン( VM )は、仮想ボリュームとそのストレージコンテナまたは VVol データストアで実行されているすべての VM へのアクセスを維持するために重要です。vCenter Server と VP はそれぞれ、オブジェクトとその関係を管理するためのデータベースを管理します。これらのリソースがないと、仮想ボリューム上の VM を管理またはアクセスできません。

これらのリソースを保護するには、次の 2 つの重要事項が必要です。

  • vCenter Server 、 VSC 、 VP を実行している VM を、 NetApp ストレージでホストされている従来の( VVol ではなく) NFS データストアまたは SAN データストアに配置します。これらは、仮想ボリュームストレージと同じ NetApp クラスタ上に配置できます。VMware ESXi サーバは、 VP が実行されるまで VVol データストアにアクセスできないため、 VP の格納に仮想ボリュームストレージを使用しないでください。
  • 信頼性の高いバックアップを維持し、コア管理 VM ( vCenter 、 VSC 、 VP を実行する VM )を迅速にリストアできます。

これらの VM を NetApp データストアに配置することで、ネットアップのネイティブバックアップテクノロジを使用できます。VP とそのデータベースを保護する方法はいくつかありますが、 VMware データストアを含む NetApp FlexVol の Data ONTAP Snapshot コピーを使用することを推奨します。

Snapshot コピーを管理し、 Snapshot コピーから VP をリストアするには、 2 つの方法があります。

  • オプション 1 : VSC のバックアップおよびリカバリ機能を使用して、 Snapshot コピーベースのバックアップを管理します。
  • オプション 2 : Data ONTAP に組み込まれているスケジュール設定された FlexVol Snapshot コピーを使用します。

仮想ボリューム環境での変更は、 VM の作成、削除、パワーオン / オフ、 VVol データストアの作成と管理、ストレージ機能のプロファイルの作成と管理など、 VP サーバと vCenter サーバが保持するデータベースに記録されます。これらの処理が頻繁に実行されるようになると、バックアップを作成する頻度が高くなります。ネットアップでは、最大バックアップ間隔を 1 時間にすることを推奨しています。また、問題を検出し、 Snapshot コピーを使用してその問題からリカバリする時間が十分にあるように、バックアップを保持する必要があります。
